Marty Adkins

Architect

Marty has decades of experience in LAN and WAN network design, operation, optimization, and troubleshooting. He works with customers to improve manageability with attention to address plans, naming schemes, security, and baseline documentation. He places a strong emphasis on simplicity and consistency to aid in staff understanding and support.

A large part of Marty’s current focus is on network automation, utilizing tools such as Infoblox NetMRI. In today’s mostly redundant networks, he understands the importance of not only high availability/MTBF and MTTR, but also MTTD (detect). He helps customers track change, define standards-based local configuration policies and assess compliance, with scripted auto-remediation.

WHY NETCRAFTSMEN?

From the time that we founded NetCraftsmen, we have always emphasized both technical excellence and company culture. The combination enables us to support each other as well as our customers while we craft business solutions.

A number of us have been Cisco-Certified Instructors, so we enjoy continuing to learn, and in helping others — customers and co-workers — do likewise.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR JOB?

After many years in this industry, I still enjoy a diverse environment with new technical challenges. But it’s just as important to help others learn and grow, and I get a lot of satisfaction from that combination.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?

Marty’s main hobby is sailboat racing on the Chesapeake Bay. He also enjoys bicycle tours in other countries. And taking in Mardi Gras time in New Orleans!
